Paddy Field Frog

Fejervarya limnocharis

📍 Shoushan Nature Park, Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Measuring some 5 centimetres (2 in) long, this little frog is a common sight across Southeast Asia, and possibly beyond. Given its extensive range, this species, Fejervarya limnocharis, likely comprises a species complex — with several cryptic species contained within.

A typical individual of the species has a fairly pointed snout, long toes on its hind legs, a landscape of ridges across its back, and a stripe of varying colour — from pale to green to orange (pictured above) — or with no stripe at all.

📍 Southeast Asia and Indochina.
